>"I think Roman Reigns is a hell of a performer, he really is. I think he's absolutely incredible. Am I better than him on the mic and in the ring? Sure, but I'm not gonna go out of my way and talk shit about him because I respect him. I respect what he does. I respect the hard work that goes into putting out that product that is WWE."
Backhanded compliment 101 lmao.
we don't deserve MJF
Best heel in the business, AND YOU KNOW IT.
Honestly just living his life in character sounds fun as hell. Imagine just spending 2-3 hours a day insulting anyone who came up to you and them leaving happy about it
I do this on reddit. I dont know if anyone leaves happy, but I know it puts a smile on my face.
I thought for sure Jericho was going to pass the torch to him at All Out.
At this point I think whenever Jericho decides to retire, if it's with AEW he's giving it to MJF.
He's a great team player.. give it time he'll give a hell of a rub before completely retiring
I think as how every Vet in AEW has picked somehow on to mentor/elevate adn pass torch to, Taz has his kid, same with Gunn, Darby has Sting; Jericho in fact have Guevara and MJF I think, the obvious as Jake the snake and Blanchardare in another dynamic.
What a kind man that Darby Allin is, to pass on his legacy to an up and comer like Sting. ;)
Plus those singles matches against Scorpio and Jungle were special.
He will, just not yet.
I figured Jericho was going to beat him in the "Fifth Labor of Jericho", then MJF was going to be so mad and throw a hissy fit, demanding a rematch at All Out where if MJF won, Jericho had to "retire" (Jericho is on tour with Fozzy, I figured he'd be out of action). Jericho, never one to turn down a challenge as a face, would gladly accept for the opportunity to beat MJF to a bloody pulp.
Clearly, I was wrong. But, after MJF won the Dynamite match, Jericho had to win the All Out match. There was never any doubt on that, IMO. Jericho *never* had the actual upper hand on MJF at any point in the feud. He was 0-2 against him, with MJF outsmarting him time and time again, with the only "victories" being the Inner Circle hiding in the Pinnacle's lockeroom, and the Double or Nothing win where Sammy (not Jericho) got the win. They couldn't do the whole feud for nearly a year with Jericho literally never winning *anything*.
There's always a feel-good ending when the face **finally** wins and the heel **finally** gets his comeuppance. The crowd in unison all pulling for Jericho because he NEEDED it felt great. It was mega face stuff we rarely see anymore. MJF didn't lose anything by finally dropping one to Jericho, so ultimately I was happy Jericho won. He shouldn't lose everything meaningful just because he's old. He's a wrestler there just like everyone else who needs to stay strong so people still want to see him.
> "I respect the hard work that goes into putting out that product that is WWE."
Fighting a heavy constipation involves also a lot of hard work, sweat and sometimes blood.
That's probably the most subtle line in the whole thing lol.
At first glance, it sounds nice, but you read it closely and it's actually a huge insult.
I've seen some people think MJF is possible to be the first big defection, he's one of the absolute least likely if you pay attention, even among the 4 pillars. Even in this interview he's talking about outlasting everyone.
Regardless of the fact he'd be turned into Baron Corbin by week 3 in the fed, he seems pretty loyal to AEW.
Bold to assume he'd he that successful. He'd be cast to the side as being small, never get any mic time, and run in the 24/7 Title Geek Chase.
Happy Max, and they’d find a way to have him wrestle in the Burberry scarf all the time without it falling off. Or they’d make him a whole suit out of it and insist he wear that.
Yeah, there's no way. I think character MJF will tease leaving for WWE, but human MJF isn't going anywhere.
The funniest thing is that Roman's getting all this attention for doing these in character fake 'shoot' interviews, getting himself some real heat and MJF just outdid him. Praising WWE and suggesting you might go there is a way bigger heel move to an AEW fan than just crapping on CM Punk. Everyone and their mother has taken shots at Punk.
"Because, you see, Chris Jericho, by beating you, MJF is worth more money here, and MJF is now worth more money elsewhere."
The genius of it is that it's a pro-AEW promo thinly veiled as a pro-WWE promo.
That’s because Roman’s heel act is tired out.
BLAH BLAH BLAH TRIBAL CHIEF BLAH BLAH WISE MAN BLAH BLAH BLAH ACKNOWLEDGE ME BLAH BLAH
Same old shit every time.
WWE can't write a promo that isn't just a catchphrase to sell merch driven into the ground
But AEW is the “t-shirt company” apparently lol
the people with some of the best catch phrases basically handled their own promos any way
This is why WWE never let Cena turn heel. Because he'd be doing nothing but shit talking the competition and making them look bad while they're trying to do interviews and charity events and press junkets
He's the one person that the Fiend didn't manage to turn. I was honestly kinda expecting it when he came back, but nope.
And Kevin Owens
And Big Show, oddly.
Big Show's natural turn happened at the same time as the Fiend's so they cancelled each other out.
He did that when he was a babyface lmao
But there was no competition when Cena was on top
…that’s all he did any way
This sub got tired of the new Roman shtick pretty fast lol
They should have turned Roman heel the moment he left shield. He would be able to get in the practice and by now he'd be good. Instead we got a heel turn that was way too late and he's in a terrible spot rn that still feels forced.
Romans heel act was tired out 2 months into his run. I've understood people latching onto his "badass" character. It felt just as manufacturered and forced as his face "badass" runs.
It doesn't help that a lot of Roman's heel persona is just talking in ebonics.
>I might go to IMPACT, I might go to Ring of Honor.
Yeah, kayfabe or not, no one is gonna believe you Max, lol
It’s hilarious that he is (factually) way too good for RoH when just a couple years ago they had M-Dogg beat him at All In
To be fair, Matt Cross was over af from Lucha Underground at the time
Why isn’t Matt Cross in any major wrestling company?
He's in MLW now, if you could count it as a major (league) wrestling company :D
I honestly couldn't say. Dude's excellent. Maybe it's one of those situations where he enjoys what he's doing as a journeyman. Because I don't see why any of them wouldn't want him.
Yeep and nobody knew who MJF was and there was light criticism that some unknown was on the card. Only thing people knew was that he was someone Cody thought had potential.
Yeah, that's what I heard. And that "someone Cody thought had potential", turned out to be an absolute treasure. MJF is amazing. I'm glad they took a chance on him. One of my favorite parts of AEW programming.
Iirc Cody say that someone (and I think it was implied it was MJF) really young and with tons of potential was basically willing to work for free to be at All In. And then they counter offered with like triple what he was asking for.
Getting paid triple of nothing is a great deal.
It's a shame that his Indy work didn't get much attention prior to his signing. His program with Joey Janela in CZW over Penelope Ford showed just how amazing he was.
Fun fact; MJF won the CZW heavyweight belt back in 2018 at 22. The person he won it from? RSP.
That’s not true. People knew who MJF was at the time. He was all over the northeast and Midwest. Beyond, CZW, AAW, NEW, CAP, etc.
The type of person who knew about all in knew about MJF.
I like Matt cross, just a shame he kind of leveled out and cooled off big time
Well he’s old now. Like Bobby Fish.
I STILL miss SoH. He was fucking amazing in LU. I was super excited AEW seemed to be signing him. A lot of people were.
Is that Road Dogg's stepson?
No, he's the Son of Havoc.
Jessicka Havok from Impact? Damn...
I really hope not, they are only like 10 years apart in age
Perfect for Pornhub
"What are you doing, Step-dogg?"
"Step-dogg, help I'm stuck in the ring apron!"
Help, I'm stuck in Degeneration X
Let’s get ready to suck it
delete this from my mind please
Oh you didn't know?
Your ass better call somebody
I remember Colt Cabana had MJF (out of character) on his podcast around this time. I guess he was getting hot on the indies right around All In. In particular the two of them apparently were being told they looked alike, like father and son, and got some bookings together where they were able to ham it up at a couple shows with a mini angle.
The Elite booked All In but ROH funded and promoted the entire thing which was kayfabe at the time
I believe ROH promoted it but did not fund it. It was funded by Bucks and Cody together.
The Elite funded it; ROH however provided all of their needs (ring, TV setup, crew, etc) as one bespoke package, at a fraction of the cost it would have taken The Elite to either buy or rent the individual components separately
Wait, that was Matt Cross in that MJF match? I thought it was Trevor Lee (the future Cameron Grimes) in that match for years but I never went back to check. That just blew my mind.
What makes this high art is "and she sucks"
A little RT content very nice. Hardcore minigolf was a lot of fun
Somewhere between Twitter and the IMPACT Zone, TK and MJF are a great tag team.
These quotes make me think that MJF isn't going anywhere unless something really bad happens with AEW.
he never was. TK mentions all the talent that he’s signed on Max’s recommendation. They tight.
MJF, last year: "I know Max Caster from my CAP days, dudecs really good and you should sign him TK."
MJF, now: "I have made a big big mistake."
[It's a pity this exists already because this is God-tier shit for The Acclaimed to bust out in a feud with The Pinnacle.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVCcmta2SRo)
Psh, The Acclaimed and Caster are amazing.
Oh yes, but Caster's Twitter interactions with MJF have been... Questionable.
Oh? Whats that about?
Caster's basically been thirsting after MJF on Twitter for the past several months. It's a joke between two people who've known each other for years, which is made funnier because MJF doesn't break character and because Caster is apparently legitimately a weird dude.
This should have a bunch of the tweets:
It's a joke cause Caster is super horny on main for MJF
Castor want's to know MJF in the biblical way and isn't subtle about it
I think he also got Bear Country Sterling and Stat spots
His best twitter friend max castor
He never was. The character MJF and the person MJF are very different. If you've ever seen the shoot with him and Ricky Starks and Ethan Page you realize why He's close with TK and I dont think He'd work well with Vince at all.
That said, if any wrestler in AEW would do the "I should be up north" gimmick, it's Max.
Which I would think would be amazing in a program with Bryan Danielson, the man who left up north while still on top.
Mr. Monday Night ~~RVD~~ MJF!
You really want to dig it in, Mr Friday Night.
Welcome to the Mid Monday show with MJF.
The thought of a Punk vs MJF feud makes me so happy
Punk/Darby/Sting vs Pinnacle guys seems like a great natural feud given the stuff that’s happened over the last few weeks. Apparently, off-camera, Punk stood up from the announce booth and flipped MJF off after the “You know why Darby is straight-edge?” promo from a few weeks ago.
If that TK notebook leak is to be believed, we might see Punk get into it with Pinnacle pretty soon.
Notebook leak? Guess I missed this
He was photographed at a Jags practice with a camera with such high resolution you could make out every crevice, indentation, and chicken scratch on the notebook sheet. Under the heading “Full Gear” he had written “Punk v Wardlow”
Here ya go, spoiler alert tho: https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/q7l1fz/possible_full_gear_card_leaked_in_bleacher_report
I actually want the MJF/Punk superheel alliance
It would be damn good television.
Add Cena to the fold so we get to see NWO 2.0
I want Cena and Punk wrecking the tag division while MJF gets the World title
I always have the belief that Wrestling will recycle storylines every 7 years. So I would love a MJF leaves with the AEW Title story. Then have him go to Ring of Honor, MLW, Impact and New Japan. Come back and shove it in Punk's face "I even did the whole 'I'm leaving with the title' better than you and you know it!"
"see Punk, I actually left! you hung around the parking lot for two weeks, because you secretly loved to SPORTS ENTERTAIN the idiot masses!"
I’ve been watching WWE(F) since Hulk Hogan beat the Iron Shiek. Vince McMahon would not use MJF properly. MJF would be Mr. Perfect in 1989-90. Top heel until he loses twice to Roman’s spear (like Perfect did to the Leg Drop) and then he just drifts until he’s mercifully released.
I don't think anyone going from Tony Khan will work well with Vince. It's like going from a boss that invites you out for a coffee outside lunch hours to a boss that doesn't care to know your name.
I don't want to even want to begin to think of him with the handcuffs of scripted promos by committee.
In two weeks he'd only be known as Maxwell.
Too long. He will simply be known as J.
Is that?? Could it be??? Oh my!! It's...J!!
It’s J time!!!
They'd probably call him Maxwell Goldfarb.
Bill's long lost illegitimate son, Maxwell Goldberg
"We'll turn him face and the heels will call him Goldfart. It'll be funny, pal!"
"OHHH MYYY!!! IT'S SALT TIME!"
I hate you so much right now, because this is exactly what would happen
In his "wwe tryout" video, he called himself Maxwell Jacob Feinstein
That was his original name. Changed it so he wouldn't be associated with pedo Rob Feinstein.
Oof. Friedman sounds so much better anyway
*WELL LET ME TELL YOU SWEATY NEW YORK MARKS SOMETHING. YOU SEE.... IN THIS INDUSTRY....*
I know but but I think this cements it even further.
Listening to him talk frankly about his struggles and stuff (while the interviewer *refused to shut the fuck up and kept talking over him)* was really interesting.
Vince would make him a manager. He'd think he's too small.
You know Vince would job him out and send him to catering. He did it with people from WCW and Impact. AJ being the one exception to that rule.
And that is ONLY because AJ is an unreal talent. Don’t forget how stupid his run started. Constantly referring to him as a rookie was beyond dumb.
I remember them calling AJ a kid when the man is literally as old as John Cena.
He’d never make it in current WWE. Putting max on a definitive script is a waste of who he is.
[Tony Khan Responds To MJF Listing The “Four Pillars” in AEW](https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2021/10/tony-khan-says-there-are-more-than-just-four-pillars-in-aew/)
>“There’s more than four pillars,” Khan said. “Those four were who he (MJF) named and that’s his personal list. I think those four are all pillars of this company, and then some. But we have so many. He’s right that those four are all building blocks to this company. MJF and Darby Allin and Jungle Boy and Sammy Guevera. But there are many others that I can list. We talked about Orange Cassidy, Dr. Britt Baker we can talk about till we’re blue in the face. Ricky Starks and Hangman Page. There’s so many young stars.”
Yeah, if anyone Tony mentioned ever leaves AEW, it'd be because of something really serious.
It's funny because Orange Cassidy is frequently included in the "young hotshots who will lead the future for AEW" category, and he's only a little younger than Kenny Omega.
MJF is apparently a locker room leader and close friends with TK.
MJF is so undeniably good that aew is going to move heaven and hell to keep him and wwe will likely do the same to get him, but i could totally see him staying with aew and even retiring as a higher up there.
You should watch this full interview. I believe MFJ and AEW are already setting up a 2011 era CM Punk contract battle for early 2024.
MJF talks in the interview about how in 2024 his contract is up and that he will go where the money is. It’s all in character.
And seeing as many predict MJF to be the next champ after Hangman, he could very well be the world champ when they pull this story off.

If you are in a good spot at AEW right now you’d have to be mad to go this current version of WWE. Firstly know that you will be buried as an example that WWE is better that AEW for the benefit of a mad pensioner, then if you somehow come out the other side of said burial your programmes will be put together by writers using words like suffering succotash, once again for the benefit of the same maniacal pensioner.
Even in the slight chance he escaped all of that - every single aspect of his character wouldn't be allowed in that company.
WWE will throw big money and the promise of a push at one of the AEW originals to jump ship, and MJF could make it work. Worst case scenario, I think he'd come back after his contract expired as an even bigger heel as the one who betrayed AEW.
MJF singing praises of The Pinnacle but being casually dismissive of Wardlow... I'm so excited for MJF to eat that F10.
Didn't think we'd see Hangman win the belt before the Wardlow turn, but looks like it's happening
I think they're waiting for when they have MJF at his peak on top of the world for when they have Wardlow turn on him.
I want Wardog to join up with a heel Cody for poetic justice. it would be so fucking delicious to see MJF as champion but under Evil Metal Gear Solid Villain Cody and hating every second of it.
I mean Wardlow being hired by the guy who is in his own eyes a fan hero who gives a down on his luck ex-nemesis a job but in reality is just the same as MJF seems like the perfect "face" turn for the guy who is cannonically only under MJFs employ
yup. and it would work well with Cody's "company martyr" schtick he's been doing since the MJF feud. "no worries about the cage match or the lashes, Wardog, I did that to ELEVATE you, like I've always done!"
I have two dreams regarding MJF's reign and both involve Cody:
a) MJF wins the belt, Cody finally commits to the turn, his faction takes over the company and the Pinnacle so MJF has to play nice. now he has to work for a sociopath he hates AND he has like half the roster gunning for his ass,
b) Cody commits to the turn, goes back on his word and takes the belt off Hangman, MJF ends up as the contender out of necessity. like, it's another Casino ladder match and by the end it's down to either MJF or someone who Cody put in to job for him and now everyone has to deal with exchanging a sociopath for the biggest cunt in existence.
Ruby out here catching strays. Even Britt complimented the Bunny for beating Lesnar in the demo and used it to mock Ruby instead.
Can you image how pumped everyone is for each other backstage, though? Ruby was severely misused in WWE and now holds her own against Roman, who is supposedly their biggest star. They have to be over the moon.
Ruby's tweet about this: https://twitter.com/realrubysoho/status/1450237404003045381
I liked Jericho's tweet
I don’t know what that means, but that is not the proper way to play a record.
She moved the needle.
watching that kinda hurt a little bit, like when you grind your gears in your car or turn of your computer by pressing the power button
She's a needle mover.
Well well well...how the turntables.
Never change MJF, never change.
"I've been through a lot, all of it mainly positive."
That entire interview is an answer to those who claim that his heel work is all about shit talking the city they are in and talking down to the crowd.
He just knows how to generate heat and be a fucking asshole, and he does it amazingly. He is gonna be a top heel for the next however many years he wishes to be in the buis.
Is it somehow less insulting when he insults everyone?
It is because it means mjf is not trying
This whole interview is hilarious
I'm listening now and it's absolutely incredible.
Just started and I'm already dead. "I got so much puss dude, It was fallng out of my pockets." lol.
Isn’t that a Weeknd lyric?
Ok maybe he is pretty good.
Holy fucking shit what a great heel tweet.
He tweets like a literal internet troll.
What tweet? It was an interview
my bad, what a great heel quote
Yall see the followup from MJF on [twitter?](https://twitter.com/The_MJF/status/1450658954825113605?s=20) My god this man puts in good heel work. These people would have had to be hospitalized during the Monday Night Wars if banter works them this hard.
I like how MJF did not sugarcoat his thoughts on Hulk Hogan at all during the podcast.
Just flat out said he was a racist.
Still can't believe Roman called his shot and lost so badly. Imagine like Joel embiid did this to the hawks last year and then that series happened its basically that. Absurdly hilarious
I can't escape this anywhere lol
fuck ben simmons.
Let me say it louder for all the people in the back.
FUCK BEN SIMMONS!
FUCK BEN SIMMONS
As an Aussie myself……FUCK BEN SIMMONS
during the 2007 patriots season i gloated to my giants fan friend quite a bit. Didn't end well for me
I feel like that happens a lot in the NBA
It happens in most sports. Vidal vs Bayern was one of the funniest quotes this past few years
WE WANT THE BALL AND WE'RE GONNA SCORE
I remember Robertson vs Atletico. Aged like milk
What exactly did they lose?
"And she sucks"
Triggered. MJF actually got me there.
MJF reminds me of a young Chris Jericho in all the right ways. The moon is too short of a ceiling for him.
Instant face turn from MJF!
Him kissing up to Roman Reigns is so good.
> Him kissing up to Roman Reigns is so good.
I’m adding MJF to a list of wrestlers I’ll watch this fall.
Link to the interview https://youtu.be/L8ovNcYzaGE A fun watch.
I didn't realise the infamous UBS Raw vs Dynamite shows were Long Island. MJF's hometown promo is going to be next level.
I don’t see any lies here.
First time I ever saw MJF he was walking around the crowd before an AAW show just insulting everyone he passed. He’s really got this heel thing figured out man
