TurnaboutAdam

That’s his ex wife? Warrior clearly uh…. Had a type.

dc946002

He sure did, he also dated Melanie Pillman before Brian got with her.

VRomero32

She was also with Lex Luger too

alpha-k

That's Brian Jr's birth mom right.. She did not come across very positive in the Pillman doc...

dc946002

Wow, really? I had no idea. Damn she really liked being with Wrestlers lol

TurnaboutAdam

queering don’t make the world work but blondes do!

jhoges90

Lmao the dummies downvoting this like it's not a Warrior quote.

LiterallyOnlySaysYes

Dana Warrior should be mocked and ridiculed forever for that Smut and Filth line. HE was Smut and Filth.

gettinGuapHD

I was saying the exact same thing to my girlfriend, idk how anyone still idolizes this scumbag, he’s said some horrible things. I think the tipping point for me is he was such an ABYSMAL wrestler, and super unprofessional behind-the-scenes. The Warrior Award makes me laugh. Edit: spelling

ShiftyMcCoy

Sincere question: does anyone (outside of older/lapsed fans unaware of his remarks or personal behavior) actually idolize Ultimate Warrior. The *nicest* things I've seen people say about him are variations of "he was an entertaining character, but a scumbag as a human being"

boatson25

Smart fans never liked him to begin with. But casuals absolutely loved him me included. You’d be surprised how much of a following he has, some guy serving me in a supermarket the other month had his symbol tattooed on his hand, I remember Lebron James wearing a Warrior shirt a few years back. He still has a pretty fanatical following among older casual fans. I very much doubt they know about all the shit he said however.

gettinGuapHD

The fact that they haven’t had to change the name of the Warrior Award proves that for me, clearly the public just doesn’t know cuz he would be cancelled so quick in today’s age Edit:spelling

HintClueClintHugh

I know more than one person who only knew Warrior as that guy who was popular before they started wrestling and then fell in love with the guy for his intense motivational speech YouTube videos. Which were basically like coherent Warrior promos about attacking your goals. So for them, who never cared to investigate the religious or political stuff, they totally idolize Warrior as a motivational speaker that hyped them up to believe in themselves.

MediumRareAB

I am a lifelong wrestling fan. Ultimate Warrior got me into wrestling, he was the one for me. But, I think there was a lot of us that got brought in by Warrior but stuck around for everything else. I quickly learned that the mystique of the Warrior and “where is the Warrior? Will he ever come back?” is way more interesting than the performer himself is. As soon as the Warrior got me glued, Bret Hart began his ascension to the IC Title and just as quickly Warrior wasn’t even my guy anymore. Kind of a microcosm for his whole career.,

SambaLando

>"he was an entertaining character, but a scumbag as a human being" But that's 99% of wrestling legends

WrestleSocietyXShill

I don't disagree with the sentiment at all but at the same time I get where she is going to obviously defend her dead husband. Warrior was a POS, no doubt about it, and being dead doesn't absolve him of that, but I get where his widdow isn't going to be like "Yeah he was an asshole alright"

GOR098

Considering she married him and has kids with him, she may not even believe that he was an asshole at all.

WrestleSocietyXShill

I would assume she doesn't. Far worse people than him still have family and friends who saw them in a different light than the rest of the world and stood by them. Warrior was definitely a gigantic asshole, but even the biggest assholes usually have *someone* who loves them. Clearly he was a shit husband to his first wife judging by the posted clip here but maybe he did a better job the second go around. Someone can better themselves in one regard, ie being a better husband after destroying their first marriage, and still be an asshole in general, ie going on bizarre homophobic rants and wishing cancer on a former co-worker.

PsychicWarElephant

Just because someone is an asshole to people outside of his circle, doesn’t mean they are assholes to those within. I mean hitler had a wife, so anything is possible.

LiterallyOnlySaysYes

Right. A tough situation to be in. I think the best answer to this is to not comment on it at all or if she was asked about it, just say "no comment". When she approached the subject the way she did, it was like she was dismissing what basically would've been the truth. A third party unbiased source of information is way more reliable than WWE's/Dana's perspective on things. So dismissing DSOTR all together the way she did was just an unwise choice overall.

WrestleSocietyXShill

Yeah while I get where she is coming from I don't think she did herself any favours by drawing more attention to it and making herself look foolish. I agree that it will be interesting to see a 3rd party doc on him, I haven't watched much of DSotR (which honestly I do need to change) but I'm looking forward to this.

SAVertigo

I found it was on Hulu and binge watched a bunch this past weekend.

Fizzay

What did she say?

pnt510

She said the Dark Side documentary is smut and filth.

Fizzay

Ah, I assume it will be quite accurate then

DorkChatDuncan

I mean, she's mocked and ridiculed anyway. Just add it to the pile.

SnuggleMonster15

This woman dodged a bullet if you ask me.

RadioZT

I can’t help but feel this particular clip was chosen as a shot at Ms. “Smut and Filth”.

CAJoekickass

Oh no. A famous man fucked women that weren't his wife. The horror! Takes me back to this sub white knighting for CM Punk for sleeping with women that weren't Lita.

KikiFlowers

That's not what this is about. This is about his widow Dana "Warrior", whining about Dark Side being false.

thesch

I don't really understand this as a reply to what OP was saying

tameoraiste

They clearly don’t either

LiterallyOnlySaysYes

...So ....that makes it ok, or...... Yeah idk what you're saying but whatever it is sounds gross, strange and super out of it touch. Disregard.

Proxymophandlemama

Dark Side of the Ring about to debut the "Smut and Filth" Film Festival.

KurrganMark

SMUT AND FILTH.

MovieWizard

Future Tag team champions.

Louisros

She also seems kind of nuts. She actually tried to write a book about warrior, claiming he was very anxious, doing drugs and even claims of homosexuality, which would be big considering his anti gay comments. So i'm pretty curious as to what will come out of this episode, could be some crazy stuff. But if this is the worst of it that's not particularly shocking, basically 'pro wrestler does pro wrestler stuff(for the time period)

Zxphenomenalxz

With how much he despised homosexuality openly it's very possible he dealt with it himself. From not having a good relationship with his father, idolizing bodybuilder men and posters of them all over, he very well could've been projecting.

Louisros

>With how much he despised homosexuality openly Sure. But i don't think bodybuilding has anything to do with it, kinda random

Zxphenomenalxz

Oh no bodybuilding itself didn't.. but the story of him starring off into their posters and lifting in front of them was made me make that connection. Lol I'm not saying bodybuilders or liking bodybuilding is a sign of homosexuality, I just mean the context of how that little part in the doc was laid out came across that way to me regarding him.

Louisros

Lol does sound a bit weird.

Nik778899

Hmm. I can't think of a single example in wrestling of someone who actively participated in homosexual activity despite expressing openly homophobic comments. On an unrelated note, I wonder what Lars Sullivan is up to?

Louisros

yea It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility if true. But if it's not brought up on the show you gotta wonder why.

paullyrose3rd

Maybe that YTP edit of warrior’s shower fun time with vince and hogan will come true lol

maxhollywoody

I highly doubt wrestling groupies have stopped.. might be even easier these days.

geoslayer1

of course Dana doesn't like this, her whole career now is the Ultimate Warrior brand, she works for WWE, the new wholesome image of the Ultimate Warrior puts gas in her landrover Up until his HOF induction he was reviled in the WWE, they even made a hour long video telling the truth about how awful he was and that he was the shadest mofo ever to work for WWE the truth is "Warrior" was into living his best life, drugs, hookers, being an asshole he did it cause he had the means to do so and to damn anyone that tried to stop him, then he burned all his bridges down, went even more psycho, his shoots are legendary, not cause their interesting, but because how racist and homophobic they are Did they know "Warrior" was on his way out before the HOF ? maybe ? capitalism ? Murica !

HintClueClintHugh

Clearly there's enough evidence out there to know this guy was all kinds of batshit crazy and shitty to be around... but I'm not in the habit of taking the word of ex- anything as gospel.

XTheProtagonistX

What a hero.

DoctorSnape

Fuck Warrior.

Farthousejones

Pretty strong reaction to have that many years after the incident. Edit:. Not saying that is a good thing. If you're acting like that 30 years after a breakup you shouldn't put yourself on camera like that. It's embarrassing and makes you look like someone who can't move on.

undertalemisfit

trauma always lingers

LiterallyOnlySaysYes

That was in the back of my mind. But I don't think those were crocodile tears either.

LightningRevolution

Not really. That was probably one of the most painful moments of her life. Years of marriage falling apart with one phone call. Being betrayed like that.

PwnnosaurusRex

Yeah. She's having go into great detail about the moment all her fears were realized and she was heartbroken. It's pretty human to experience that pain again.

TheInfinityGauntlet

Imagine telling other people how to deal with their trauma lmfao

ShiftyMcCoy

>It's embarrassing and makes you look like someone who can't move on. This is so, *so* wrong. You can still "move on" while remaining devastated that someone you loved and respected betrayed your trust. Especially when you're literally reliving that betrayal minute by minute. If anything, I think it's noble that she's willing to relive something so hurtful for the sake of a documentary's integrity.

>She's clearly putting on for the cameras. The both of us dont know her, but I seriously wouldn't say "Clearly putting on for the cameras". Thats a strong take considering people literally kill themselves over failed marriages or go through some serious depression. Love can be a bitch, I wouldn't rule out her just going deep and remembering shit like *that* can fucking sting and hit differently.

greatbritt0n

Is that the lady who gives out the warrior award?

Old_Echidna3720

No that’s his widow Dana. This is his ex wife.

greatbritt0n

Gotcha. I didn't think Dana would have done this show, it seems like wwe has asked anyone they can to not participate. Otherwise, I can't wait to see this episode. :-)

felipe_the_dog

Don't tell me a rich and famous professional athlete in his 20s touring the world was unfaithful in his marriage. Say it ain't so.

[deleted]

Not trying to minimize her pain or anything but why’s she still bawling and broken up about this she dodged a huge bullet lol

jbels12

Warrior mightve been a shitty person but in the world of wrestling hes not as bad as his contemporaries. His views though are very troublesome and I wonder if he changed course during his redemption run in the late 00's

ShiftyMcCoy

Say what you want about racists like Hulk Hogan. But even Hogan never went on the speaking circuit to preach hatred toward black folks, nor did he write extensively pieces smearing them. Yet Ultimate Warrior did this exact thing with gay folks. He was committed to his hatred in a way few in the wrestling business ever have been.

Bookerman32

Even Hogan had the grace to honour something as simple and charitable and kind as Make A Wish. Warrior literally stood up a dying kid.

Isoturius

That's the worst shit about him I'd read. I'd heard he was an ass, Bret Hart kind of drilled that in his book.

Nik778899

u/brethartburiesthis

Isoturius

Bret already beat him to that lol

kaneabel

Also threw a fucking tantrum when told by Vince to make an apology video to a kid he Fuck Off’d

The societal standard is the opposite of “weird”

Stained_Eye

You realize weird is subjective right? Also relationship dynamics in general are weird, monogamy is not above critique.

[deleted]

I’m this context it’s not that subjective. The majority of our species engages in monogamy. It’s the opposite of weird.

Bookerman32

There are also tons of monogamous animals, so it's not like this human behaviour is weird in the greater scheme of the world either.
